In a press release posted on Instagram on Friday, July 17, about ten Marseille acts announced their withdrawal from the Delta Festival a few days before the event. They condemn “serious facts.”
A true Marseille institution since its first edition in 2014, the Delta Festival attracts thousands of spectators every year. This year the event is experiencing a crisis. Indeed, in a press release posted on Instagram on Friday 17 July, around ten of the festival’s Marseille partner ensembles announced that they were leaving the organization after a “collective reflection” on the “serious facts” that had been reported to them. Signatories include Dub Striker, FAI Virar, La Louve, La Wo, Minuit Rapide, MTOWN, Say Less, Solstitium, Undergroove and Twerkistan.

Without disclosing the details of the facts presented, “out of respect for all interested parties,” the signatories believe that “it turned out to be impossible to maintain their participation.” Although the Delta festival is scheduled to take place from July 23 to 26, this last-minute departure is justified by a “desire to act in accordance with the values and obligations” that the collectives have within their respective structures.
The signatories clarify that this decision “takes nothing away from the work of the artistic, technical and human teams that contribute to the festival” and shows their “recognition to the Delta Festival teams for their commitment, professionalism and the significant work they do to bring this event to life.”
The festival organization contacted by La Provence explains that it does not know the nature of the facts mentioned and has requested a meeting with the groups concerned to understand the situation.
