On top Megan Foxfame and followers Diablo CodyOscar-winning success with Juno20th Century Fox brought the two together for Jennifer’s bodydark teen twist Mean Girls it was directed by Karyn Kusama.
Fox plays a high school cheerleader who becomes possessed and turns into a succubus while preying on her male classmates. As the death toll rises, her best friend (Amanda Seyfried) must decide if she can stop the growing horror.
Jennifer’s bodyreleased by 20th Century Fox on September 18, 2009, opened in North America with an estimated $6.8 million, finishing fifth at the weekend box office. The film went on to earn approximately $16.2 million domestically and approximately $31.6 million worldwide, against a reported production budget of approximately $16 million. This was considered a failure.
After graduation, Jennifer’s body has received mixed to negative reviews and currently has a critic rating of 47% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics at the time often cited the film’s uneven tone and marketing, which emphasized horror over the film’s satirical elements, while some reviews (correctly) cited Diablo Cody’s dialogue and the performances of Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried as highlights.
In the years since its release, the film has undergone significant critical reappraisal. Retrospective reviews highlighted its commentary on female friendship, sexuality and exploitation, as well as its subversion of horror stereotypes. This revaluation, coupled with strong interest in streaming platforms and social media, has contributed to Jennifer’s body creating a lasting cult following, especially among younger audiences and critics re-watching genre films from the early 2000s.
Despite the unsuccessful release of the first film, Jennifer’s body gained many followers. In fact, it is one of the most popular movies on Dread Central.
In March of this year, I exclusively broke the news that Cody was working on a sequel and that Foxx and Seyfried were interested in returning.
Now Production Weekly is reporting that filming will begin this October, although nothing has been officially announced yet.

Official information on whether there will be Amanda Seyfried signed the contract, although we heard that she should also return.
The original film was distributed by 20th Century Fox, which is now owned by Disney. We’ve also confirmed that it is indeed a Disney production, although it remains unclear how it will ultimately be distributed. There will be more news to come, so stay tuned to this page.
