Radhakrishna Kishore, the senior-most Congress quota minister in the Jharkhand government and finance minister, has regained his security. After a dispute with officials over government vehicles, he sent back the 16 police officers who had come with him and also returned the vehicles provided for security purposes. This event sparked a new debate in the politics and bureaucracy of the state.

In fact, on April 21, 2026, the Finance Minister wrote a letter to the DG of Jharkhand requesting additional vehicle for the movement of 16 policemen deployed for his security. The minister said that he already has only three vehicles, in which it is difficult to accommodate all the security forces. This also affects the security system.
However, instead of providing an additional vehicle, Deputy Secretary, Finance Department, Pankaj Kumar Singh, issued a notice to the minister’s private secretary. The notification, citing the 2022 order, said that out of the three vehicles provided to the minister, one vehicle must be returned to the police headquarters.
Angered by the notice, the finance minister wrote a letter to the DGP on June 29, stating that he had to face public disgrace due to such actions. In such a situation, he returns all the police deployed for his safety and the vehicles at his disposal. Now he kept with him only the car that the financial department provided him.
Radhakrishna Kishore confirmed while talking to the media that he has regained his security. However, he refused to reveal the full reason for the controversy and said he would reveal it when the time comes. He said: “If the public and my constituents ask, I will tell everything. This matter is currently between me, the finance department and the police department. He has no connection with Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
He said he hails from an area like Palamu and also saw a period when there were frequent clashes between the Naxalites and the police. He said he had more faith in God than in his own safety. “As long as God has written life, no one can do anything. If death is written, then something can happen even within the circle of safety,” he said. However, he also mentioned an incident in Jamshedpur where a person was allegedly thrown out of a PCR vehicle and killed.
The minister also said that he does not feel the need to walk under a large security cordon or crowd of workers like in Bihar.
