On Monday evening, Apple updated a total of three operating systems and updated its Safari browser for macOS 15 (Sequoia) and 14 (Sonoma). The systems and browsers don’t feature any known innovations, but they plug various security holes that Apple says are being implemented faster due to new threats posed by AI.

Fear of attacks using artificial intelligence
The company told Reuters it is responding faster by fixing bugs as it fears AI will increase the speed of malicious hacking tools. Otherwise, Apple might not release security patches until the next major version is released. This means: fixes now ship with iOS 26.5.2, iPadOS 26.5.2 and macOS 26.5.2, otherwise Apple would have been waiting for version 26.6 systems. Artificial intelligence was also used to find errors, including through Anthropic.
In addition to the three new versions of the operating system, Apple is also making Safari 26.5.2 available as a separate download. The browser alone fixes more than 20 vulnerabilities, plus two other bugs that Apple doesn’t disclose. We are talking about information leaks, crashes, memory errors, leaving the sandbox and much more. WebKit Canvas, WebKit Storage, and WebRTC are also affected. However, Apple does not touch older versions of macOS, at least initially there were no updates for either Sonoma or Sequoia.
Fixed more than 30 spaces each
iOS and iPadOS 26.5.2 contain nearly 30 fixes, as well as fixes for issues in three areas that Apple hasn’t disclosed. The kernel, libxslt or IOGPUFamily are affected, and holes in WebKit are plugged, as in Safari 26.5.2.
macOS 26.5.2 also contains more than two dozen bug fixes, plus three more without details. Here, too, the matter is in the kernel and libxslit, including Safari, which also plugs the gaps. Apple also said there have been no reports of attacks based on system vulnerabilities. However, it is necessary to reduce the time between announcement and implementation. Apple will release at least version 26.6 before the release of iOS 27 & Co. in September.
