Apple today released iOS 27 beta 4, giving developers the next preview update since iOS 27 debuted at WWDC. Developers can download the new beta version now.
iOS 27 is a major update to the iPhone, featuring Siri AI, Apple Intelligence, Liquid Glass enhancements, and a long list of quality-of-life changes. Here’s what we found in iOS 27 beta 4.

iOS 27 beta 4 is already available to developer beta testers. Build number is 23G71.
You can install the update by opening the Settings app, selecting General, then Software Update. From there, select “iOS 27 Developer Beta” under “Beta Updates.”
As with any beta, we don’t recommend installing iOS 27 beta 4 on your primary iPhone in anticipation of potential performance issues. You should expect bugs, battery life differences, app compatibility issues, and other issues until Apple gets closer to a fall release.
iOS 27 beta 4: what’s new?
Here are some changes we found in iOS 27 beta 4.
- Siri AI has a new “splash screen” when calling Siri from the dynamic island or swiping down on the home screen.
- This beta fixes a depth effect bug introduced in the third beta. It was fun while it lasted.
- Siri has two enhanced voices that are fast and expressive. The five legacy voices will still feature tempo and expression sliders, which will be coming soon.
- Control Center now supports a new Adaptive Mode slider for AirPods Pro.
- The TV app now intelligently downloads upcoming episodes as the season progresses.
- New photo setting “Enlarge photos to fill” for images with an aspect ratio similar to the device display.
- New Siri app Preview setting to change the number of lines of text shown in chat lists, similar to Mail.
- Potential links to two battery codes have been discovered, hinting at a foldable iPhone Ultra.

Not all iOS 27 features are available on every iPhone. The update supports iPhone 11 and later and iPhone SE 2 and later, but Siri AI and other Apple Intelligence features require newer hardware.
Apple will continue beta testing of iOS 27 throughout the summer. The public beta was released last week. The official release for everyone should appear in September along with the new iPhone line.
