Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' received 'Excellent' certificate from censor board

Thalapathy Vijay Yana Supervisorwhich was originally scheduled to release on January 9 for the Pongal festival this year, will finally see the light of day in July.

Yana Supervisor received an A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on Thursday. The certificate is now available on the CBFC’s official website, which also states that the length of the film is 183 minutes (three hours and three minutes). However, the list of abbreviations for Yana Supervisor has not yet been uploaded on the CBFC website.

The film was submitted for certification in December 2025 and the CBFC has reportedly informed KVN Productions that it will receive a U/A 16+ certificate. However, things took an unexpected turn when a member of the examination committee reportedly raised objections, resulting in the film being referred to the review committee. The CBFC did not issue the certificate for several months citing due process.

A long delay in certification stalled the film’s release indefinitely, much to the disappointment of Vijay’s fans. However, it was Vijay’s victory in politics that ultimately gave them a reason to celebrate. Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party won a resounding victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in May this year, making him the chief minister in his first election contest – an achievement that few politicians can match.

Director: H. Vinoth Yana Supervisor marks Vijay’s last film as an actor and was originally intended as a farewell to fans ahead of the elections. The film is not just another commercial release, but a milestone in both Tamil cinema and Vijay’s career, which spanned over three decades.

Every update, from the first poster to the music, was carefully analyzed by both fans and the public. There were also rumors about the film’s release date after the film was delayed by six months.

Director H Vinoth has been tasked with creating a film that combines mass appeal with an emotionally resonant story worthy of Vijay’s farewell to the big screen. Produced by KVN Productions on a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, the film features a star cast and a massive production, further raising expectations. It also stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamita Baiju and has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Vijay’s films always have a massive opening and Yana Supervisor He is expected to make one of the biggest openings in Tamil cinema, buoyed by his unrivaled fan following and his recent stint as chief minister.

Released today Yana Supervisor is viewed not just as a film premiere, but also as a cultural event.
