Nightmarish scorching heat or just a normal summer with lots of sunshine? Weather forecasters are already making us sweat. Because it looks like another heat wave is coming. The only question at the moment is when this will happen.

There is still time to at least take a break. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts tolerable temperatures at least for the weekend. but in two parts: Because clear to sunny weather is expected today in the southwestern half of Germany with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees. The north and east will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from 19 to 24 degrees, according to DWD. The forecast for Sunday is not much different. Calm before the next heat wave?

Asked by BILD, climate scientist Dr. Carsten Brandt about 2019: “If I compare temperature trends from then to now, there are certain similarities. And in July 2019 there was a huge Heat wave. My feelings tell me that this year we will have even more.”

Another “Thermal Dome” is being built

According to Dr. Burns, it is clearly in the direction of heat. But first, Berliners had to “cool off with the air of the North Sea.” However, in the west and southwest “summerbut a pleasant temperature.” And for the next two to three weeks it may remain completely dry – “with a little thunderstorm here and there.”

But the next thermal dome is already forming in France. According to the American forecast, which the weather forecaster refers to, our neighbor will again have 42 degrees on July 10. So pure bull heat that then follows Germany I could pull it! Dr. Brandt: “The weather in the outdoor pool is good, but please don’t go above 30 degrees.”

Germany still has pleasant temperatures. But the forecast predicts temperatures of up to 41 degrees will again be possible in south-west France today.

Weather models fluctuate wildly

Taking into account the different weather patterns, qualified meteorologist Dominic Jung told BILD: “Sometimes the forecast for next week says it will be a cool 25 degrees and then a few hours later it will be 40 degrees again. Real chaos of forecasts in the summer!” A “real weather duel” is to blame for this: on the one hand, hot air is again approaching Germany from the southwest. On the other hand, try something cooler. Weather situation to counteract from the northwest.

Expert about summer in Germany

Jung still dares to look into the coming week: “After a strong thunderstorms “Temperatures drop noticeably at the beginning of the week.” Temperatures will only reach 20-25 degrees and remain “pleasantly crisp” at night, sometimes below 15 degrees. But, according to his forecast, the cold snap will end again from Tuesday.

He says: “The probability that Germany will break 40 degrees again in July is around 60 percent.” But everything is still on shaky ground: “Either it’s rolling next heat wave is approaching, or the summer of 2026 will capsize completely.” Jung talks about a “weather crime thriller” with an open ending. Having a fan etc won’t hurt at all.
