Digital Division, Washington. Last week, a telephone conversation took place between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
At the same time, Trump asked Netanyahu to begin the process of withdrawing Israeli troops from southern Syria and Lebanon. However, Netanyahu refused to accept this demand. This is stated in a media report.
According to a report by US news site Axios, Trump warned that instability could worsen if the Israeli military presence continues on Syrian soil. In its report, Axios quoted a US official as saying Trump told Netanyahu: “They don’t want you there.”
The official said Trump also made the message in the context of the presence of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon. However, the Israeli prime minister opposed Trump’s demand and said Israel’s strategic military presence was important for the security of its borders. However, the White House refused to comment on this specific detail of the telephone conversation.
