Karaoke lovers, French song lovers or just curious people: the show Don’t forget the lyrics We are looking for candidates in Tarn and Garonne.

Only 14 residents of Tarn and Garonne took part. Don’t forget the lyrics for 18 years of existence. A figure that production would like to increase by announcing a call for applications in the department.

“This is a national show and we want every region to be represented,” says casting director Anthony Pinto. You don’t have to travel to try your luck. Registration is completed by telephone or online prior to a fully remote selection process.

Casting in three stages

“Candidates first sing a song of their choice over the phone. They then have to submit a presentation video and perform a few titles. Finally, during a video conference, we test their knowledge of the lyrics,” explains Anthony Pinto. The production may also, from time to time, organize recruitment for karaoke bars, choirs or music associations that require it.

You don’t have to be a professional musician to try your luck. “We have orchestral singers, but we also have mothers who have never sung in public. The profile is such that there is no profile,” explains the casting director. Only one condition is required: adulthood.

Jeremy Cordeiro, a 38-year-old man from Moissague, knows the behind-the-scenes of the show well. An educational and social guide, as well as a singer and songwriter, he has already taken part in Don’t forget the lyrics in 2014. Twelve years later, he decided to try his luck again. His walkthrough will be broadcast on August 25.

“Human Adventure”

For him, the experience goes far beyond the mere confines of a game show. “This is a real human adventure. We meet people from all over France, with completely different profiles. I even found friends that I still keep in touch with today,” he explains. Moissagais also has wonderful memories of the reception given to the candidates: “Everything was done to make us feel comfortable. The team is extremely caring.”

For those still hesitant to sign up, Jérémie has simple advice: “You have to show your individuality and be completely yourself. Of course, you will also have to work on the songs because you can’t achieve anything without effort. But above all, you should enjoy the experience.”

Those selected will take part in filming in the coming months, which will begin in September and will be broadcast from October on France 2.
