For stars like Bonnie Tyler (†75), there is a separate word, especially in English, her native language – “popular” is no longer enough, Bonnie Tyler was more, she was “loved” all over the world. And therefore no one remains indifferent to her death: even Hollywood stars, rock legends, politicians and even crowned heads bow before the small, tall Welsh woman with a distinctive voice.
Finds the most touching words Catherine Zeta-Jones (56). For the actress, also from Wales, Bonnie Tyler was much more than a music legend. The singer was married to Zeta-Jones’ cousin Robert Sullivan and was part of the family for decades. “My heart is broken,” Zeta-Jones wrote on Instagram. Tyler was at her wedding Michael Douglas she sang and rocked, was “an extraordinary woman with an equally extraordinary voice.” And: “She might as well have been a comedian—she was one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.”

Hollywood colleague Kevin Bacon (68) also speaks out – and recalls one of the singer’s most famous cinematic moments. Tyler was “one of the greatest rock voices of all time.” To this day, he can’t imagine the iconic tractor race from the classic movie Footloose paired with any other song than “Holding Out For A Hero.”
The royal dog’s name is Bonnie.
British politicians are also in mourning. prime minister Keir Starmer (63) praises Tyler as “one of the greatest British artists.” She influenced generations with worldwide hits such as “Total Eclipse Of The Heart”, “It’s A Heartache” and “Holding Out For A Hero”. Their music will continue to “touch hearts, fill dance floors and get karaoke bars singing along.”
Farewell to the Swedish royal family is particularly personal. Koenig Karl XVI. Gustav (80) and Queen Silvia (82) declared Tyler “a fantastic and very popular singer.” A glance at the royal bestiary shows how much affection she had: the royal couple named one of their Bavarian mountain hounds, “Bonnie,” after her.
Rod Stewart’s spontaneous farewell serenade
Award-winning rock veteran Rod Stewart, 81, also recalls a close friendship: “We had a similar singing style. She was a good friend, a true toucher of souls,” he writes on social networks. On Thursday night, Stewart concluded his performance at The King’s Trust fundraising gala at the venerable Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire, Scotland, with an impromptu performance of Tyler’s classic “It’s A Heartache.” Accompanied by pianist Jools Holland, 68, he said goodbye at the end with the words: “Bye, bye, Bonnie.”

And, of course, it’s also very sad in Germany. Thomas Anders (63 years old) says goodbye to his long-time colleague with touching words. “You were unique. Your voice was unmistakable. Thank you for all the music and moments we shared,” the singer writes. His thoughts are with Tyler’s husband Robert and their family. artist Florian Silbereisen (44)whose shows she repeatedly graced, wrote on Instagram: “Now a world star will become a superstar in heaven! I wish everyone up there as much fun as Bonnie and I.”
