If there’s something about Love Island USAthe thing is that every season includes some kind of crackship (it’s an absurd ship that somehow sucks you in). First it was Rob and Keillor. Then it was Nick and Olandria. Now it’s Melanie and Caleb. And if you’ve been paying enough attention to Season 8, you may have noticed Melanie and Caleb looking at each other and giggling a little after returning from Casa Amor—and the entire Internet is here for it. Spoiler alert: spoilers for Love Island USA Season 8 is ahead.
To bring you up to speed, Melanie and Caleb are currently living with different islanders. During the most dramatic recovery in Love Island Story Melanie decided to stay in her relationship with Candor, and Caleb brought Jaden back from Casa Amor. However, in the latest episode, Melanie admitted she wanted to move on from her couple with a heartfelt, prompting fans to wonder whether she would explore another fling in the villa. And now that fans have started pointing out the commonalities between her and Caleb, it’s hard to imagine that she won’t.
Fans said they could see Melanie with Caleb since he bombshelled into the villa. But since Caleb was immediately pushed towards Kensi (and Melanie was busy dealing with the drama with Sincer and Saul), they never had a chance to explore their connection—until now.
The spark is barely noticeable, but it is there. After Casa came to, videos of Caleb and Melanie talking in the kitchen began circulating online, and to be honest, it was hard to look away from them. They seemed to be in their own world, appearing in the background of the girls’ conversation. Melanie even showed Caleb something on her phone as he sat on the counter—and yes, they were both smiling contentedly.
In the same episode (episode 21), Melanie and Caleb share a sweet moment on the couch during Casa’s reunion. Melanie pushes Caleb after he teams up with Jayden, telling him “good job”, showing her support for his new couple. It feels a little wrong to write this given the context of this clip, but you honestly had to be there. Their friendship is truly special.
In the most recent episode (episode 24), Amora is considering studying Caleb, to which Melanie immediately stated that she thinks Caleb is cute too (seriously, weirdo). I know, I know. The moments these two share are quite boring. But so were Bryce and Trinity – and now they are BF and GF. And let’s not forget about all the stolen looks from Melanie and Caleb in front of Casa Amor.
Fans also began pointing out the similarities between Caleb and Melanie’s types. Both said they were most turned on by eye contact, which makes sense considering how often they look in each other’s direction. Besides their type, they also seem to be the kind of partner each other needs. Caleb is respectful, loyal and patient, and Melanie has constantly stated that she needs someone with enough emotional maturity to do this.

Unfortunately, it is not up to us whether these two actually turn out to be a couple or not. However, fans have already started plotting to bring them together through voting. This would honestly be one of the craziest friends-to-lovers storylines on this show, and I can definitely say I’m here for it. Only time will tell!
