Two years after finalizing their divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s custody agreement has come to an end as their youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18.
The former couple has six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and Knox and Vivienne, born in Nice, France, on July 12, 2008.

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 after 12 years together, marking a shocking end to one of the world’s most famous couples.
The couple was involved in an eight-year legal battle over their shared assets and child custody, with the divorce only being settled in December 2024.
Now, less than two years later, their custody agreement is coming to an end, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Pitt and Jolie.
Since all six children are adults, the former couple is free from the restrictions of the custody agreement.
In 2014, Jolie said Hollywood Reporter that the only reason she lived in Los Angeles was because of the terms of the agreement.
“As soon as they turn 18, I can leave,” she said.
“I’ll be spending a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll be visiting my family wherever they are.”
Talking to Diversity in June, she seemed to mean that the family is well aware and looking forward to the newfound freedom she will receive on the twins’ 18th birthday.
“My kids are almost 18, so now they want to see me travel the world, they want me to go out and do things,” Jolie said.
“They know me more than anyone else and they still like me, which says a lot. I think they’ve been very encouraging of me getting back to aspects of myself that maybe I haven’t felt as free to explore.”
As for Pitt, he has become largely estranged from his six children, five of whom have decided to publicly drop Pitt from their last name and now simply use only the last name Jolie.
Shiloh was the first to legally change her name when she turned 18 in 2024. Soon after, Maddox filed legal documents to officially drop the name, as he had previously been referred to as Maddox Jolie in the film’s credits. Couture.

Zahara publicly dropped her last name during her college commencement ceremony in May 2026, and later officially filed to change her name to Zahara Jolie.
Vivienne chose to be called Vivienne Jolie in the 2024 Broadway production. Outsiders and Knox decided to put Knox Jolie’s name on his high school diploma.
Pax is the only child who has not publicly renounced his father’s last name.
Although their divorce has been settled and their custody agreement has been terminated, Jolie and Pitt are still embroiled in a contentious multimillion-dollar legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval.
