Bank holidays next week: Private and public sector banks in India will be closed for one day only in the coming week from June 29 to July 5, 2026.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has listed a total of eleven holidays in June and 12 days in July for national, regional and religious holidays. This includes weekends: second Saturday, fourth Saturday and all Sundays.
While some bank holidays are specific to certain states or regions, branches across the country will remain closed on declared bank holidays.
Public holidays next week:
Customers planning to visit branches of SBI, HDFC Bank or other banks should check the list of holidays in advance as branches of both public and private sector banks will be closed on the days specified in the RBI holiday calendar.
- Next week banks will be closed on July 5, which is Sunday.
RBI Holiday Calendar for July 2026
In the RBI holiday calendar, certain days are marked as non-working days for banks under the Negotiable Instruments Act and others are marked under Closing of Accounts by Banks. Here is the full list of holidays in July 2026:
- July 6: Banks in Aizwal will remain closed on the occasion of MHIP Day.
- July 9: Banks in Shillong will be closed due to Beh Deinkhlam.
- July 16: Banks will be closed in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Imphal on occasion of Ratha Yatra/Kang (Rathajathra)/Kharela.
- July 17: Banks in Shillong will be closed to mark the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh.
- July 18: Banks in Gangtok will be closed to monitor Drukpa Tshezi.
- July 22: Banks in Agartala will remain closed on account of Kharchi Puja celebrations.
Saturday and Sunday are declared holidays
As per the guidelines laid down by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), all scheduled and non-scheduled banks observe mandatory closure on all second and fourth Saturdays and every Sunday of the month. This means that customers will not be able to access in-branch services on these days.

There are four Sundays in July, so banks will be closed on July 5, 12, 19 and 26. In addition to Sunday, banks will be closed on July 11 (second Saturday) and July 25 (fourth Saturday).
Internet banking continues to operate on holidays
Customers are also advised to check with their local bank branches for the exact holiday applicability. Meanwhile, essential banking services continue to operate across the country despite the physical closure of branches.
During public holidays, online banking services remain available across the country to ensure uninterrupted access to banking services. Customers can use these services for convenient financial transactions.

An individual can use UPI or the respective bank’s app to make payments and receive money from others. These services operate 24 hours a day, regardless of whether banks are open or not. Although sometimes it may be inoperative due to scheduled maintenance during which the banks will notify you.
Additionally, fund transfer requests can be made using NEFT/RTGS Transfer Forms, Draft Demand Request Forms and Check Book Forms.
Apart from these options, credit cards, debit cards and ATM cards can also be obtained through card services. Services such as account maintenance forms, setting up standing instructions and applying for a locker are also available.
