Barcelona’s ambitious bid to sign Julian Alvarez could spark another big transfer involving one of its own players.
According to Gerard Romero, Atletico Madrid have already identified Ferran Torres as their preferred replacement if the Argentine striker ends up making his dream move to Camp Nou a reality.
Barcelona transfer news suggests the two clubs remain far apart in negotiations for Alvarez, but Atletico are already preparing for any possible outcome.
Should circumstances force them to sanction the Argentine’s departure, Ferran Torres would move to the top of their shortlist.
Atlético sees Ferran as ideal replacement for Alvarez
Barcelona’s attempts to sign Julian Alvarez continue despite Atletico Madrid’s firm stance, but Gerard Romero says contingency plans are already being considered in the Spanish capital.
As such, Atlético sporting director Mateu Alemany is a long-time admirer of Ferran Torres and believes the Barcelona striker would be the perfect addition if Alvarez leaves this summer.

The Spaniard’s ability to play in the front line and his experience in La Liga have made him one of Atlético’s preferred options.
At this stage, Atletico Madrid are not actively negotiating with Barcelona over Alvarez and remain determined to keep the Argentine.
However, the situation is far from clear, especially since the player expressed a desire to look for a new challenge away from the Metropolitano.
If Atlético ultimately decide that Alvarez’s departure is inevitable, Ferran Torres could become one of the club’s top transfer targets.

Barcelona’s interest in Julián Alvarez alone was not expected to threaten the Spain international, largely due to his versatility and ability to operate on both flanks.
Now this picture has become more complex.
Barcelona’s move for Karim Adeyemi has added another attacking option to the equation, increasing competition throughout the attacking line.
If the Borussia Dortmund winger arrives and the club also manages to sign Alvarez, Flick will suddenly have significantly greater attacking depth.
As a result, Ferran Torres’ future at Barcelona is no longer as certain as it seemed earlier in the summer, although there have been no signs that the club are actively seeking to sell him.
