Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard could be close to a move to Galatasaray after agreeing personal terms, it is reported.
Odegaard’s agent was believed to be in Istanbul to discuss the deal, and the Norwegian appears to now have no problem agreeing to the move.
However, according to Turkish journalist Selman Ozturk, negotiations between the clubs are yet to be concluded, with some discussions currently underway regarding a potential deal worth €40 million.

Is it time for Arsenal to sell Martin Odegaard?
Odegaard played an important role in Mikel Arteta’s project at Arsenal, and at one point he performed so well that he was named one of the best players in the Premier League.
However, after the heights he achieved in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons in particular, Odegaard has never been the same, and this has largely been due to recurring injury problems.
| Odegaard at Arsenal | Games | Goals |
| 2021/22 | 40 | 7 |
| 2022/23 | 45 | 15 |
| 2023/24 | 48 | 11 |
| 2024/25 | 45 | 6 |
| 2025/26 | 36 | 1 |
The 27-year-old won the Premier League title with Arsenal in the season just gone, but he hasn’t contributed as much to that as Arteta or the club’s fans had hoped, so perhaps now is the right time to sell.
Replacing Odegaard won’t be easy
However, the problem with betting on selling Odegaard is that he is not easy to replace.
On his time, the former Real Madrid youth player is an elite player, dictating play, scoring a large number of goals and assists from midfield, while also working hard when it comes to pressing and carrying out his defensive duties.

In today’s market, it’s hard to find one that looks like anything other than crazy money.
If Arsenal can make €40 million from selling Odegaard, that might help, but it will likely be less than half of what is required when it comes to investing in such talent.
