In response, Brandon King and John Campbell started the game strongly, enjoying good possession of the new ball, until King turned Asita Fernando’s away swinger for a second slip. Campbell, however, looked positive, scoring freely whenever the opportunity presented itself, while Kavem Hodge was more alert and took his time to acclimate to the conditions. He also rode his luck late in the day, surviving two chances as Sonal Dinusha missed a catch at fine leg before Udara converted another opportunity at first slip. Milan Ratnayake was the bowler who created both of these chances but was unlucky twice. The pitch continues to be a good batting surface and West Indies will be hoping to build on the encouraging start to their innings. Having shown in the previous Test that they can post significant totals, the hosts will believe they have the batting depth and knowledge of the conditions to produce another strong response. Day three promises to be another exciting chapter in this competition. Join us tomorrow!
