Ahmed Khan is related to Shahid Kapoor; The possibility of a reunion is being discussed: “We will get together when we are on the same page” Director and choreographer Ahmed Khan has opened up about his long-time connection with Shahid Kapoor, ending speculations about their relationship. The two have been friends since childhood and have collaborated on several memorable projects over the years. Although they are no longer seen together as often, Ahmed has made it clear that changing priorities and career paths have impacted their relationship more than anything else.Ahmed played an important role in the early stages of Shahid’s career. He directed the actor’s first on-screen appearance in Aryans’ iconic music video “Aankhon Mein Tera Hi Chehra”. The duo later worked together on Ishq Vishk, Fool & Final and Paathshala.
Why didn’t they reunite professionally?
While interacting with News18, Ahmed explained why viewers haven’t seen him collaborate with Shahid in recent years. Both chose projects that suited their individual creative tastes, he said. Recalling their professional journey, he said, “I directed ‘Aankhon Main Tera Hi Chehra’ and his first film ‘Ishq Vishq’ as a choreographer. Then I directed him in a film called ‘The Fool and the Finale.'” Talking about the shift in their careers, Ahmed added, “After that, I produced ‘Paathshala’ in which he played a role. But in recent years, he has been following a certain pattern of the films he wants to make. I, on the other hand, make a certain type of film that I want to make.”
Ahmed sees hope for new cooperation
Even though Ahmed hasn’t worked together for several years, he believes the possibility of a new collaboration is still alive. He said it all comes down to finding the right script that they both enjoy.Sharing his thoughts, Ahmed said, “We will work together again when we get together (in terms of our feelings).” He further explained, “We will come together when we are on the same page about the kind of films we want to make. I know that if I take the script to him at that moment, he will take it. But at this point it’s a fifty-fifty scenario.” Ahmed also spoke candidly about how life has changed for both of them. Although they remain childhood friends, he admitted that they can no longer meet as often as before due to lifestyle changes and professional commitments. He shared, “I mean, we don’t meet that often. We are childhood friends. We became friends when I was 11 and he was just 7. So, our friendship started about 30 years ago. But yes, kaam hi aisa hai na ki isme kai naye dosta aate hai. You become friends with so many new people that you forget who your real friends are. Our lifestyle has changed now.”
Finding new friends at home
Ahmed also reflected on his personal life and said that today his closest friends are his two sons. As they grew older, conversations at home increasingly revolved around cinema and filmmaking. Talking about them, he said, “My sons are now grown up. So, I have two friends in my life – Azaan and Subhan. Azaan is 25 and Subhan is 19. They come and talk to me about cinema and how films should be made today.”While Ahmed and Shahid may not be working together at the moment, he has also left the door open for a future reunion.
