Arsenal They are expected to step up their interest in Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola this week after receiving reports the forward could become available this summer.

BBC Sport understands Arsenal, who have been keeping tabs on Barcola for some time, are set to watch him again in their World Cup round of 16 tie against Sweden on Tuesday night (22:00 BST).

23-year-old England striker Morgan Rodgers is a top target, but recent reports have suggested Aston Villa value him at £130m, which would be a sticking point.

But Rodgers is not the only striker on Arsenal’s radar: Barcola, also 23, is seen as a strong alternative option by the Gunners’ recruitment staff.

RB Leipzig striker Yann Diomande’s protracted move to PSG could have implications for Barcola’s future.

Barcola’s current contract with the Champions League winner expires in the summer of 2028, meaning any move for the striker would cost significantly less than Rodgers, whose contract at Villa runs until 2031.

And if PSG are willing to listen to offers for Barcol this summer, Arsenal will be among the clubs interested in him, with Liverpool also believed to be keeping an eye on him.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are also keen on Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

There are doubts over the future of current second-choice goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga next season, leaving Arsenal looking to the market for a replacement.

Messier, who has lost his number one job at Leeds, is out of contract this summer and the 26-year-old is available on a free transfer.
