“Ozempian face” or just aging? Charlize Theron is the latest celebrity to face ‘Ozempic face’ speculation ahead of ‘The Odyssey’

Charlize Theron may be gearing up for one of the biggest films of the year—Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey—but it’s not her upcoming role that’s dominating social media. Instead, the Oscar-winning actress has become the latest celebrity to become caught up in the internet’s ongoing obsession with the so-called “Ozempic face”, with users analyzing recent photos and speculating about her appearance.

The discussion began after new images of the 50-year-old actress circulated online, particularly on X, prompting users to suggest she looked noticeably thinner. Some were quick to attribute its appearance to the popular weight loss drug, leaving comments like: “Ozempic has another villain.” Some users also expressed concern about her slim figure, writing: “She’s so beautiful when she has meat on her bones. I hope she’s doing well,” while another remarked, “It’s not healthy and I’m not going to pretend it is.”

Some users claim that Hollywood’s ultra-thin beauty standards seem to be making a comeback. Recently, some of the Euphoria cast also went viral for looking noticeably thinner for the final season. “Are they trying to make fasting look chic? Pass the steak and potatoes, I’m hungry,” one person wrote. Another added: “I remember celebrities looking like this when I was a teenager and really thought it was all over but no… they all look like skeletons again. There is such a thing as being too thin to the point where it’s unhealthy.”

But similarly, many users have spoken out against these assumptions, noting that aging and a naturally thin physique are increasingly being mistaken as signs of Ozempic use. “It’s like people don’t realize other people age,” read one viral comment. Another questioned the rush to conclusions: “Is it Ozempic or is she just a 50-year-old woman who isn’t fat?”

One user also added that the Internet’s growing trend of calling every skinny celebrity an Ozempic user has implications beyond Hollywood. They wrote: “I hope you understand that Ozempic is not the only way someone can look like this. All you are doing is normalizing cruelty towards anyone who looks underweight. Many of us look like this without even touching the drug. And now we are being bullied because of your recklessness. Shame on you.”
