LL Cool J shared a memory that hilariously matches the late rapper’s stage name Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

During a new episode of Sirius XM’s LL show. Rock The Bells Radio Joined by Greg Nice and DJ Z-Trip, the 58-year-old recalled a bizarre incident involving the former Wu-Tang Clan member, who died in 2004 at age 35.

“Ol’ Dirty Bastard told me, he said, ‘Yo Greg, I took you, took Busta Rhymes, mixed it together, and I made me, and now I’m the greatest!'” Nice remembered the late recording artist during a segment in which co-stars recalled wild memories with the recording artist.

“I remember Chris Lighty called me one day. He said, “Hey, you need to come here. You need to come to (Chung King Studios),” LL said, referring to the now-defunct recording studio in New York.

The “Mama Said Knock You Out” singer continued, adding, “I said, ‘What happened?’ He said, “For some reason, Old Dirty Bastard just came here and broke all your signs and pissed on them.”

The rapper and Nice began laughing as they recalled the ordeal.

“I said, ‘What have I done?’ I didn’t even understand that. I didn’t even understand that,” LL repeated. “I couldn’t understand it! I’ve loved him ever since!”

He ended the call by memorializing Old Dirty Bastard with a smile: “Shout out to Old Dirty, man!”

Although Ol’ Dirty Bastard died 22 years ago, Wu-Tang Clan recently returned with a video game project that continues the group’s legacy.

The hip-hop collective, which is home to such iconic figures as RZA, Method Man and Ghostface Killah, has released the first trailer for its video game. Wu-Tang: Rise of the Trickster in June 2025.

A press release at the time described the game as the group’s story as they “must pass on their fantastic powers to a new generation of warriors to save their home of Shaolin.”

LL is still constantly releasing music, including his latest album, POWERrelegated in 2024 and debuted at number 50 in the rankings Billboard 200 albums chart.
