STUDENT AND PARENT GUIDE TO THE LGS PREFERENCES PROCESS PUBLISHED

The results of the LGS central exam will be announced tomorrow.

The guide, prepared by the Directorate General of Special Education and Guidance of the Ministry of National Education, has been published to provide families and students with comprehensive information on preparing for the LGS preference process.

The Student and Parent Information Guide to the Preference Process includes detailed topics such as the placement calendar, placement type chart, preference system, school types, preference procedures, and suggestions and reminders regarding preference procedures.

The guide, which contains comprehensive information about the types of schools such as Science High School, Social Science High School, Anatolian High School, Imam Hatip Anatolian High School, Anatolian Vocational High School, Fine Arts High School and Sports High School, also includes a preference checklist.

Once the exam results are announced, the Secondary School Selection and Admission Guide will also be published and the secondary school admission process will begin.

“Listen carefully to your student’s thoughts.”

The guide included suggestions for parents and students during the preference period.

The section on “Common Mistakes and Important Reminders During the Selection Period” suggested looking beyond scores to percentages, not making a list of only “most desirable” or “guaranteed” schools, ranking preferences in order of request, researching school transportation, foreign language opportunities and school climate, and not leaving the selection process to the last day.

In addition, the guide asked students to use the Rota Maarif digital platform when making decisions. The platform will be available tomorrow from the website rotamaarif.meb.gov.tr.

The “Recommendations for Parents” section includes the following recommendations:

“The selection process can sometimes cause anxiety for our children. Support your student in accessing the right sources of information during this process. Listen carefully to your student’s thoughts.

The Student Guidelines section states: “Although the LGS is a milestone in your life, it is not an exam that in itself determines your future. Success is built as you continue to learn, work hard, and improve. You can choose a high school environment where you can be happy while exploring yourself and making choices that align with your interests.” recommendations were made.

Contains information about placement locations.

The guide also included information about the right to choose and preference screen to assist students and parents when enrolling in secondary school.

Placement in secondary schools; Distribution will be carried out in three ways: to local, central and dormitories. Students who fail the exam will be able to choose local placements.

Students on local placement; Students will select a maximum of 5 different types of schools in their areas of registration, taking into account their residential address, OBP and attendance-absence criteria.

It will be mandatory to select at least one school for local placement. On the local placement screen, green will indicate schools in an enrollment zone where the student’s residential address is in the “adjacent enrollment zone,” blue will indicate schools in an adjacent enrollment zone based on the student’s residential address in the “adjacent enrollment area,” and red will indicate “other” schools for the student other than these.

Students will first make their selection on the “local schools that accept students” screen. Students will be able to select a maximum of 5 schools, provided they select the first 3 local placement preferences from their registration area. In the settings you can select a maximum of 3 schools of the same type.

With central placement, students will be able to add 10 schools to their preference list. The allocation will be made taking into account the preferences of schools admitting students in the central examination based on their quota and superiority in scores. Preference will be given to schools throughout Turkey that accept students with LGS scores.

Choosing a hostel school will be optional. The guide can be accessed on the website of the Ministry of National Education, Directorate General of Special Education and Counseling Services.
