Guntur: Guntur district SP Vakul Jindal handed over 140 mobile phones worth around Rs 28 lakh to the victims as part of a program organized at the conference hall of Guntur district police headquarters today. The Central IT Police in Guntur district are working effectively to locate and recover lost or stolen mobile phones from people. So far, 4,504 mobile phones worth about Rs 9 crore 80 thousand have been recovered and handed over to the victims.

Speaking on the occasion, the SP advised that people should be immediately alert in case of loss of mobile phones as there is a risk of misuse of personal and financial information contained in them. People can lodge a complaint on the CEIR portal as soon as they lose their mobile phone and can also call 112 in case of an emergency.

Mobile phones are said to be tracked based on complaints using technology and returned to victims free of charge. Some mobile phones were also seized from Assam, Bihar, Punjab, Orissa and Tamil Nadu.

People are advised to be vigilant against cybercrimes as most of the financial transactions are done through mobile phones these days, do not respond to suspicious calls and messages but immediately block them and report them to the police. The SP congratulated Chief IT Officer Nishar Bhasha, Head Constable Kishore, Constables Sridhar, Imam Saheb, Yasin, Aruna, Manasa and CCS officers Head Constable Ramesh and Constable Karimullah who played a vital role in the recovery of the mobile phones.
