Besiktas have agreed a €20m (£17.1m, $22.9m) deal with Arsenal to sign Leandro Trossard.

The deal includes a fee of €18 million and an additional €2 million, but the transfer is not yet finalized and the salary will be around €9 million, with personal terms being finalized.

Trossard has just one year remaining on his Arsenal contract after agreeing new terms in August 2025 that gave the striker a significant pay rise but did not extend his stay at the Emirates beyond its already set 2027 expiration date.

The 31-year-old is currently involved in the World Cup with Belgium as they prepare to face the United States in their round of 16 match on Monday. Trossard started all four games for Rudi Garcia’s side at the tournament, scoring twice in the 5-1 group stage win over New Zealand and providing an assist in the 3-2 comeback win over Senegal in the round of 16. It is believed that the deal is unlikely to be concluded until the national team’s participation in the World Cup ends.

The Belgium international played an important role for Arsenal in the 2025/26 season as they won their first Premier League title since 2004. He made 50 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists, and started 21 league matches.

Among Trossard’s most significant achievements in the Championship campaign was his 83rd-minute winner away to West Ham United on 10 May, which helped Arsenal maintain a five-point lead over second-place Manchester City.

Trossard has been a regular in Mikel Arteta’s side since joining Arsenal in a £27 million ($35.8 million) deal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023. He made 174 appearances, scoring 36 goals and making 34 assists, primarily operating on the left flank, but providing the opportunity to play centrally when Arsenal suffered injuries.

The 2023/24 season has been Trossard’s strongest in front of goal, scoring 16 times in the Premier League and Champions League.

He joins Arsenal after a successful first half of the 2022–23 season with Brighton, in which he scored seven goals, including a hat-trick against Liverpool in a 3–3 draw. Before moving to Brighton, Trossard’s career began in Belgium.
