Everton manager David Moyes has responded to questions about the possibility of signing Mohamed Salah as a free agent.

David Moyes and Mohamed Salah
Everton manager David Moyes says he is “delighted to see” Mohamed Salah return to Liverpool as he played down ironic questions about the Egyptian’s out-of-contract move this summer.
Salah left Liverpool at the end of last season after a glittering career at Anfield, where he won two Premier League titles, the 2019 Champions League and Club World Cup, as well as the 2022 FA Cup and two League Cups.
The Egypt captain, who hopes to face Argentina in the World Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday, has scored nine goals against the Blues during his time as a Reds player. Speaking to Egyptian TV channel ON Sport, Moyes admits he is glad the number 11 has finally moved on from his team’s local rivals.

“I’m not a Mo Salah specialist because my team is Everton and we are fierce rivals,” Moyes said.
“But I think everyone at Everton was happy to see Mo back because he’s been so good for so many years. He was a great goalscorer, a good player and the Liverpool fans loved him.
“So I think we’re all happy to see Mo leaving Liverpool. I’m sure this won’t be the end for him. But his performances at Liverpool were exceptional.”
On the prospect of Salah moving to Everton, Moyes added: “No, no. This is impossible. The competition is too great.
“Mohamed Salah is too important to Liverpool for it to be impossible.”
Salah is yet to name his next destination after leaving Liverpool and will remain a free agent until the end of Egypt’s World Cup campaign.
