The Kerala government has directed all public sector departments and agencies to report vacancies to the Kerala Public Service Commission within three weeks.

The decision was taken on the basis of a Cabinet resolution dated June 30, 2026, in accordance with the order of the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department (P&ARD) dated July 1. Heads of departments and appointing authorities have been directed to take measures to create awareness about vacancies.

The P&ARD order said secretaries of administrative departments have been directed to strictly deal with lapses in this regard.

Accusations

In recent weeks, the PSC has been rocked by a wave of controversy over alleged lapses and irregularities related to ranking lists and valuation. More recently, alleged administrative problems related to the published ranking list of posts in the State Planning Council created a storm, prompting the PSC to ask its internal vigilance department to investigate the allegations.

Meanwhile, P&ARD, in a separate order dated July 2, has also asked all public sector departments and institutions to “urgently” compile and submit a list of all temporary employees within three weeks. This order applies to all contract and daily wage workers, as well as those hired through labor exchanges.
