The plane took off from Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, at 7:36 p.m. (Eastern Time) before landing in Chicago, Illinois at 8:38 p.m. (local time), according to the specialized website FlightAware.
Despite the impact, the plane landed safely and no injuries were reported. After the incident, NBC Chicago reported radio communications between the crew and the control tower. “Control tower, our plane has just been hit by fireworks. We are continuing our flight,” warns a crew member.
