Charles Leclerc (28 years old) is crowned King of Silverstone! Monegasse wins the British Grand Prix with a Ferrari. But in a large group of people in the stands, the wrong person wins. Because of all the people, crowd favorite Lewis Hamilton (41) missed out on a coveted triumph in his home race and had to settle for third place after Ferrari made a huge mistake late in the race.
New spectator record in Formula 1
Silverstone is still making history. 564,000 fans flock to the traditional circuit for a race weekend – more than ever before for a Formula 1 Grand Prix. However, the record crowd only gets a spectacular race at the end – with drama for Max Verstappen, Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton!
Antonelli gets off to a good start at first, but the wheels begin to slip. Both Ferraris pass. Leclerc takes the lead ahead of Hamilton, who briefly gives hope to his home fans.
There is no big overtaking show like in the Saturday sprint. Antonelli begins to chase the Ferrari, and first he needs to get past Hamilton. The seven-time world champion closes the door for a long time, although he already faces a five-second penalty for a false start. It was only on the 11th lap that Antonelli caught up with the Briton on the old start-finish straight. Ahead, Leclerc is firmly in control of the race.

Only strategy brings any movement. On lap 17, Max Verstappen opened the ranks of the best drivers with his pit stop. On fresh tyres, the Red Bull star immediately sets the fastest lap and, thanks to Hamilton’s penalty, is within striking distance of the podium.
Hamilton pits on lap 24, serves his penalty and returns to sixth place behind Verstappen and George Russell. Two laps later, Leclerc also stops. Antonelli briefly takes the lead, but angrily radios into the pits: “Please don’t let the others make the cut.”
The best race scene comes a little later. Hamilton passes Russell on the inside on lap 29, but he quickly counters. Two laps later, the two Britons engaged in another exciting duel – by far the most spectacular overtaking of the day. The fight ends badly for Russell: a brake puncture forces him to make another pit stop, his hopes of a podium finish disappearing.
On lap 35, Antonelli finally comes to change his tires. He returns to the track in second place, 7.5 seconds behind Leclerc. The hunt begins. The Italian gains one second per lap.
Drama about Kimi Antonelli
Suddenly there’s a virtual safety car again! Nico Hulkenberg is off the track. The race is over – no points again.

But the real big drama happens at the top. Kimi Antonelli radio: “Something is broken.” The Italian enters the pits. The possible victory was gone. Although he returns to sixth position, Mercedes appears to be gone. The Mercedes team reports: “Kimi’s front left wheel cap is defective.” Antonelli is trying his best, he wants to get at least a few points.
Bock good Ferrari
Outrage on lap 48: Max Verstappen crashes off the track in third place (“This car is incredible!”): Safety Car!

Charles Leclerc quickly arrives in the pits, and Hamilton also receives new pads. But the Briton falls behind George Russell, who remains on the outside. God! Big problem: the safety car doesn’t show up at all. The race will never be released again. So the race ends at a snail’s pace and with a lot of money for Ferrari.
