One of the title holders, Yves Rakotoarisoa, accompanied by Jean-François “Siegle” Rakotondrainibe and Frank Pic, will take to the Le Mondial sideline this Sunday, July 5, hoping to once again achieve the feat and go all the way.
The hardest thing is to start. The winners of last year’s Mondial La Marseillaise à petanque tournament will only be able to partially defend their title. The Malagasy team was unable to travel to France due to visa problems. However, the country will be represented by one of its members from that magical trio, as Yves Rakotoarisoa will team up with his compatriots Jean-Francois “Siegle” Rakotondrainibe and Frank Pic. And in this first round they will meet the team of David Bossard, Alban Roucheau and David Chevalier. The game can be followed live and on video in France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
- There is no title holder. After Madagascar’s magnificent victory in 2025, the three players will not be able to unite. Yves Rakotoarizoa, author of a superb season for his club Desin, will compete in this Marseillaise with his compatriot Jean-François Rakotondrainibe, known as “Siegle”, and Frank Pic, the trio that will obviously follow him.

From July 3 to July 8, 2026
It is one of the most prestigious international petanque competitions and takes place every summer in Marseille: the 65th edition of the Mondial La Marseillaise à Pétanque will take place from 3 to 8 July 2026, while the main triple petanque competition is scheduled from 5 to 8 July at Parc Borély and around thirty playing fields in the city of Marseille. Open to all licensed and unlicensed players, women, men and mixed teams, this 2026 edition is set to bring together thousands of enthusiasts and international trios in a festive and competitive atmosphere, bringing together traditional competitions, the Paprec Women’s Grand Prix and the Crédit Mutuel des Jeunes Trophy at the opening event.
