Several illegal buildings were automatically demolished on Thursday, July 2, in Montagnac, an agricultural area prone to forest fires. This operation, carried out at the expense of convicted owners, is part of the fight against wild boaring, a scourge that affects 30,000 plots in the department.
On Thursday, July 2, as part of the fight against wild boar in Montagnac, several buildings were demolished on a plot of land in an agricultural zone. These illegal buildings (one of 30 m2 with a terrace of 50 m.2and almost 100 m2 on the ground) were located on agricultural lands in an exclusive forest fire zone.
At the expense of the owners
Despite numerous reminders from the government services, the Department of Territories and the Sea of Hérault (DDTM), the recalcitrant owners, who are in an illegal situation, have not regularized their situation. The latter were convicted by the courts, which ordered the premises to be restored under a fine. This restoration was carried out at the expense and risk of the convicted owners. Due to their inaction, the latter will receive collection vouchers to balance any account of these government-funded transactions.
Many services have been mobilized
In the presence of the subprefect of Béziers, soldiers of the national gendarmerie, agents of the departmental administration of the territories and the sea of Hérault, Enedis, and a specialized company were mobilized for this demolition operation. These actions by the state are part of a double goal: not only to combat the phenomenon of wild boarization, which is very common in Hérault (the number of wild boar plots in the department is estimated at 30,000, with 500 new plots appearing every year), but also to prevent serious risks.
Protect the population
These illegal structures located near forested areas are in fact highly susceptible to major natural risks associated with vegetation and forest fires. In the event of an emergency occurring in these inaccessible areas, the safety of people and property, both residents and rescuers, will be at risk. For Chantal Mochet, prefect of Hérault, action is the motto. : “All public services have been mobilized to fight boarization, a real disaster in the department. The results of our mid-year efforts are already significant, with two official demolitions completed and others still to come. Control and fine operations will continue.”
