Colombia plans to reach the round of 16 after eight years.
The Colombian national football team will face Ghana in the 1/8 finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held at the Kansas City Stadium.
The match suffered a heavy blow when striker Jon Cordoba was officially subbed out due to injury and replaced by Luis Suarez. Ghana then received an early injury substitution in the 13th minute. Defender Marvin Senaya was forced off the field due to injury and was replaced by Alidou Seydou.
Despite the early hiccups, the Colombian national football team bounced back immediately. Substitute Luis Suarez made an immediate impact, providing a brilliant assist for John Arias. Arias finished calmly at the back post in the 14th minute to give Colombia a 1–0 lead.

In the round of 16 match between Colombia and Ghana, Nestor Lorenzo’s team suffered a massive blow just six minutes into the match. Striker Jon Cordoba left the game with a muscle injury and was replaced by Luis Suarez.
While initial reports suggest a hamstring or groin strain, Columbia medical staff will carry out extensive scans after the match. This will help them diagnose the severity of the situation and ensure his availability ahead of the potential round of 16 match against Switzerland.
Even though Cordoba has not scored a single goal in the tournament, he uses his physical superiority. He can also stretch the opposition lines in the midfield to create attacking opportunities.
