Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has named his team for the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Kansas City Stadium in the United States.

The Black Stars look set to line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with some changes to the team that faced Croatia in Ghana’s last group game.

In goal, Lawrence Ati Zigi returns from injury to replace Benjamin Asare, while Marvin Senaia retains his place at right-back. The centre-back pairing of Jerome Opoku and D. Lucassen from the Croatia match remains, while Gideon Mensah remains at left-back.

There is a mixture of steel and energy in the midfield, with Thomas Partey joined by Panamanian hero Caleb Yirenki and Kwasi Sibo.

Yirenki, who scored the winning goal in Ghana’s opening match, will now look to carry that confidence into one of the toughest matches of his young career.

In attack, captain Jordan Ayew retains his place and is expected to lead the line, supported by Iñaki Williams and Antoine Semenyo on the flanks.
