Joao Cancelo is reportedly ready to try to force his way out of Al-Hilal to complete a permanent move to Barcelona.
According to Diario Sport, Cancelo still has a year left on his contract at Al-Hilal but is willing to do his part to secure the move.
The Portuguese defender “has already made it clear to the Saudi club through his agent that he does not intend to fulfill the remaining year of his contract, so he has asked them to negotiate his departure to the Blaugrana club.”
Al-Hilal has already told Cancelo to report to pre-season training after his participation in the 2026 World Cup ends and demand a transfer fee for the defender so they can profit from his signing.
He told reporters: “Unfortunately, I had people at Al-Hilal who didn’t tell me the truth. They told me they were going to register me on the Saudi Arabian league list and then when the day came, they didn’t do it.”
The end result is that Cancelo has “no intention of returning” and will do everything possible to join Barcelona, with a two-year contract already agreed at the Camp Nou.
