Free agent defenseman Colleen Sexton agreed to the terms with Lakers a two-year deal worth $19 million, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania (Twitter link). The contract includes a player option for a second season, Charania adds (Twitter link).
Los Angeles will bring in Sexton using a room exception, which could increase the final value of the deal to $19.2 million.
Sexton could be another valuable backup weapon for the Lakers, who overhauled their roster this afternoon by inking a deal with Utah. Walker Kessler and reaching agreements with former Philadelphia defenseman Quentin Grimes and former downtown Toronto Sandro Mamukelashvili. Los Angeles now has a much younger collection of talent to replace. LeBron James And Marcus Smartwho are both leaving as free agents.
