Teaser of the film starring Emraan Hashmi Avarapan 2 was unveiled by the makers on Monday. Directed by Nitin Kakkar, written by Bilal Siddiqui, the film is produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner Vishesh Films.
The teaser hints at a brooding, emotionally damaged protagonist. “Some people’s stories end against their will. Their stories are written for others,” says Emraan Hashmi’s character. The promo also shows him standing on the edge of a building and seemingly contemplating suicide.
“I have an old relationship with pain,” he says later in the teaser. “This time it’s either Avarapan will end, or I will.”
The teaser also features Disha Patani, who plays the female lead in the film, and Shabana Azmi, who will play the antagonist.
Original AvarapanDirected by Mohit Suri, the film also stars Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma and Ashish Vidyarthi. Produced by Mukesh Bhatt, the 2007 film achieved cult status despite performing poorly at the box office upon release.
Hashmi announced the sequel in March 2025 in a teaser video in which his character rides a boat at sunset and releases doves from a cage, recreating a memorable scene from the original film. The teaser also featured the song Your and my relationship from the 2007 film.
The makers said that the music for the sequel will be composed by Mithun and Saeed Quadri.
Avarapan 2 hits theaters August 14th. It will clash with Sunny Deol in the lead role at the box office. They are traveling 1947..
