PlayStation 5 emulator compatibility test
The new test compares SharpEmu and KyTyPS5 PlayStation 5 emulators in six games using the Radeon RX 6650 XT and Ryzen 5 5600X. The results show high CPU usage, limited compatibility, and that PS5 emulation is still in its early stages.

A new video from B Mark’s YouTube channel tests PlayStation 5 emulators SharpEmu and KyTyPS5 in six games using an AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT and Ryzen 5 5600X. The results show that although both projects are making progress, stable gameplay is still elusive.

None of the emulators are yet ready for everyday gaming. While some games can access the menu or title screen, others do not load properly or experience rendering issues before gameplay begins.
Demon Souls is one of the best performing games in the test, reaching the title screen in SharpEmu. Despite this, the emulator does not provide a stable gaming experience, highlighting the current limitations of PlayStation 5 emulation.
Other games have problems too. Some of them crash during loading, while others exhibit graphical glitches or won’t make it beyond the menu at all. None of the six games provide a stable gaming experience.

Results vary between the two emulators. SharpEmu takes the lead in some games, while KyTyPS5 takes the lead in others. However, none of the six games tested provide better compatibility or stable gameplay.
Recent tests show that PlayStation 5 emulation is still in its early stages. While both projects continue to improve, current builds can’t yet run many games reliably enough for normal gameplay, despite some big headlines giving emulation fans hope.
