A new start for German football! Jurgen Klopp (59 years old) was presented today in Frankfurt as the new national team coach and successor to Julian Nagelsmann (39 years old). Klopp will take up his post on August 15 and his contract runs until the 2030 World Cup.
Red Bull let Klopp go despite his contract as world football coach until 2029 – with no transfer fee. There will be a donation of one million euros to the Wings of Life foundation associated with the Republic of Belarus. In addition, three international matches will take place in Leipzig, as announced at a press conference by DFB President Bernd Neuendorf (65).
Klopp’s coaching team will include long-time teammates Peter “Pete” Krawitz (54) and Pepijn Lijnders (43), as well as former BVB star Sven Bender (37) (BILD reports). Klopp also invited his long-time adviser Mark Kosicke. German Football Association. Klopp planning surprises! The new national team coach explained: “There will be opportunities for players who don’t even expect them. Because I like to be brave. I’ve always been that way and I’ll always be that way. I want to work with guys who play a style of football that everyone likes. It’s not always an immediate success, but I want people to go home after a game and say, ‘Wow!'”
Klopp made people sit up and take notice when he suddenly started talking about Chancellor Friedrich Merz (70/CDU). It was about the general mood in Germany and the attitude towards the national team. Klopp: “I can’t please everyone. I try to do everything right in our interests. For me it was the thought: if I imagine that we will be world champions in four years, it will be nice. If we all do it together and imagine that it will be like that. The next day the neighbor wouldn’t be such an ass, the weather wouldn’t be so bad, Merz wouldn’t have done everything wrong.”
The DFB also confirmed what BILD had already reported: 2014 world champion Per Mertesacker (41 years old) is joining the association. The committees unanimously confirmed that Mertesacker will succeed Andreas Rettig (63) as sporting director.

Feller becomes ‘incredibly important’
Klopp: “Rudy will be an incredibly important point of contact. His experience, his outlook on life, his grin and anger at the right moments – I would like to have that in my team. What does Klopp wear outside the game?
Klopp tells BILD when asked if he will be on the sidelines in a tracksuit or suit: “I didn’t miss it,” Klopp says with a smile. “Absolutely not with a tie. I’ve gotten older. Let’s see.
