The Quebec government announced an investment of more than $24 million Monday to complete 259 schoolyard improvement projects across the province. In Centre-du-Quebec, six schoolyards will be renovated thanks to $582,041.

The selected development projects will add play modules, outdoor furniture, green spaces, sports equipment, recreation areas, psychomotor courses and outdoor activities.

Education Minister Sonia Lebel said in a press release that better-designed schoolyards will encourage physical activity among young people, which will improve their concentration and academic success.

At the Bois France School Service Centre, Le Manege Primary School in Victoriaville will receive $100,000 to develop sports and recreation areas with new ground lines.

The elementary schools of Saint-Jean-d’Arc in Lefebvre and Cyril-Brassard in Saint-Cyril-de-Wendover will receive $190,005 in support from the De Chêne School Services Center to add play modules and a psychomotor course, as well as landscaping to create shaded areas.

Three primary schools from the Riveraine School Services Centre: Explorami in Bécancourt, Marie-Sophie in Sainte-Sophie-de-Levrard and Curé-Brassard in Nicolas, will receive a total of $292,036 to add an outdoor classroom and motor skills course, replace some play modules, and develop new play areas and a green island.
