In South Gujarat, Bharuch, Tapi, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Panchmahal and Vadodara have been alerted with sirens on mobile phones to alert citizens as heavy rain is predicted tomorrow.
Heavy rains continued in parts of South Gujarat today, making life chaotic for people.
Low-lying areas in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi and Dang districts have been inundated and National Highway 48 has been closed while rescue operations are being carried out by NDRF and SDRF.
Meanwhile, many districts including Ahmedabad, Surat and Gandhinagar have announced the closure of schools, colleges and Anganwadis on Friday, July 24.

A similar announcement was also made in Bhavnagar, Kheda, Valsad, Vadodara, Navsari, Tapi, Dang and Panchmahal districts.
Due to heavy rain in Valsad district, three million cusecs of water overflowed from the Madhubani dam overnight.
In view of the heavy rainfall situation in the state, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi is monitoring the situation from now on.

In Gujarat, heavy rains that hit the state on July 23 caused water to flood everywhere, causing disaster in some places.
Rain that fell throughout the day in Ahmedabad also added to the misery of the people.
There has been no rain in Gujarat for the past few days and farmers have also been worried.
Although it is raining heavily in South Gujarat for the last two to three days, it is also raining in Saurashtra.
So now heavy to very heavy rain is forecast for Gujarat in the coming days. As per the forecast, Ahmedabad Municipal Schools have declared July 24 as a holiday.

In Gujarat, the monsoon froze completely. However, due to heavy rains, people also faced difficulties in some places.
A special alert has been issued for Adbalka, Baghi, Dahinsarda, Dungarka, Gadhada, Haripar, Khanderi, Naranka, Sakpar, Ukarda Paddhari Taluk villages of Rajkot district.
In Ahmedabad, many areas were inundated due to heavy rain since morning.
Sindhu Bhavan Road and SG Highway, considered the most luxurious in the city, were flooded.
The flooded Gotha and Taltei bridges caused traffic jams and motorists were forced to push their vehicles away.
In Ahmedabad Rural district, the Bavla-Ahmedabad Highway is witnessing flooding at many places due to rain continuing since early morning.
Highways near Mathoda, Moraya, Changodara and Navapura are moving slowly as rainwater fills the highway.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, between 8 am and 7 pm on July 23, Ahmedabad’s Bakrol received 12.2 inches of rain, 12.05 inches in Sarhej, 10.20 inches in Bhopal and 9.98 inches in Jodhpur.

Heavy rains since early morning have affected life in the Kheda area.
Several towns and villages, including Nadiad, are in a water bomb situation and Mehmadabad has been put on alert after recording the highest rainfall of 204 mm.
In view of the situation, the Nadiad Municipal Corporation and the fire brigade have appealed to people not to go out unless necessary.
Many areas of Valsad city were inundated due to continued heavy rains.
Many families were trapped by flood waters, especially in low-lying areas.
An eight-month pregnant woman and her family were trapped by floodwaters in Chipwad area of the city.
The fire brigade and Valsad Municipal Police Department immediately carried out rescue operations and evacuated the woman and her family safely.

The Vansal Chudy dam in Surendranagar overflowed from the level of 0.01 meter. In this regard, a special warning has been issued to the residents of Chuda and Goharwal villages.
Due to heavy rains in Valsad district, a flood-like situation occurred in many areas and people were stranded in water.
Rescue calls were received day and night by the Valsad District Disaster Management Department.
Later, teams of NDRF, SDRF, fire brigade and police immediately reached various places and carried out rescue and humanitarian operations and rescued 500 people.
Around 1,293 people were stranded at various places due to floods in the area.
Monsoon has arrived in Gujarat
Most places in Gujarat have received rain in the last 24 hours. Additionally, unusually heavy rainfall was reported at various places in Valsad district.
Thus, Navsari, Surat, Dang, Tapi and Surat also received heavy rainfall in some places.
The rain system bringing Gujarat has become active and the Monsoon Trough now passes through Jaisalmer, Kota, Guna, Damoh, Daltonganj, Contai and then southeast to the Bay of Bengal and extends southwards with an altitude of up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
According to the meteorological department, a cyclonic upper air circulation has occurred over southeastern Rajasthan and adjoining northwestern Madhya Pradesh at an altitude of 3.1 km above sea level.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast across the state.

According to the meteorological department, various parts of the state are likely to receive heavy, normal or very heavy rainfall over the next five days.
On July 24, light to moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the state.
On July 25, light to moderate rain is forecast in most localities of North Gujarat – Banaskantha, Vav Tarad, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda and Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar.
Thus, in South Gujarat, rain is likely at most places in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and Daman, Dadra and Nagarhaveli.
Similarly, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Saurashtra Kutch, over Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad and Diu and at many places in Kutch.
As for July 26, rain is forecast in most localities of Banaskantha, Vav Tarada, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar.
Thus, in South Gujarat, light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad and Daman, Dadra and Nagarhaveli and many areas of Saurashtra-Kutch.
Warning of heavy or very heavy rain in which area
According to the meteorological department, very heavy rain is forecast at isolated places in Mahisagar, Panchmahal and Dahod on July 24.
Heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Khed, Ahmedabad, Anand, Surendranagar, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Daman and Valsad.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast at isolated places in parts of North and Central Gujarat on July 25.
According to the meteorological department, rainfall is forecast in various parts of the state from July 23 to 29.
Therefore, most parts of the state are forecast to receive rain suitable for planting and farming in the coming days.
