A total of 79,404 candidates have accepted their allotted seats in the first round of undergraduate admissions at Delhi University, the university’s admissions office said on Saturday. Candidates had to occupy their allotted seats by 11:59 pm on Saturday.
On Thursday, the university had allocated 93,033 seats in 221 undergraduate programs in 67 colleges against approximately 71,600 vacant seats. As in previous years, more places than the number of places were allocated to accommodate selection and minimize the number of admission rounds.
Admission this year is through the Consolidated Seat Allocation System (CSAS). A total of 2,18,284 candidates have registered on the portal, of which 2,08,043 have completed the preference filling process.
According to the admission committee, 10,746 candidates have paid the application fee so far and after verification of documents, colleges have approved payment to 26,061 candidates. Candidates whose documents have been verified and approved will have to complete payment of the fee by July 21, officials said.
After paying the entry fee, candidates can either choose the “freeze” option to maintain their allocated place, or choose the “upgrade” option, which allows them to be considered for higher preference in subsequent rounds.
The university will release the second allotment list on July 25 and candidates who have secured seats in this round must complete the fee payment by July 28. The academic session is scheduled to begin on July 28.
The university has not announced further admission rounds. Officials, however, said that the intermediate round of selection will be announced separately.
