Stop in front of the monument to Ottavio Bottecchia in Peonis, the first Italian to conquer the Tour de France. This is one of the symbolic moments of the eighth Tagliamento Days organized by the Italian Federation of the Environment and Bicycles.
Around forty cyclists rode from Ampezzo to San Daniele del Friuli along the FVG 6 cycle route. The initiative was aimed primarily at promoting the route along the left bank of the Tagliamento and asking the region to recognize its strategic value.
The request was renewed at a conference held at the San Giovanni Hospital in San Tomaso di Majano. According to the FIAB, the Tagliamento cycling route represents a unique link between mountains and plains, but over the years it has received less attention than other regional routes.
Hence the request to complete still necessary activities and plan new resources to increase not only the tourism potential, but also the potential of local easy mobility.
Regional Council members Massolino and Celotti responded to the invitation, recalling the security issue and already reassuring the Regional Council of their commitment to the left by announcing an amendment that was in the process of being finalized.
The meeting was attended by the director of the Regional and Local Public Transport Service, Enzo Volponi, who, for the left part of FVG 6, emphasized the importance of developing coordinated signage and the receptive part.
