Both Polish clubs were seeded. Coleiors have this privilege throughout the qualifying round, and Michal Gasparik’s team can “take it over” from Fenerbahce, whom they will meet in the second round – subject, of course, to victory over the Turks.
Lechites, possibly defeating AGF Aarhus, will play against Azerbaijani champion Sabah FK or Finnish champion Kuopion Palloseura. This is a good draw, because among the potential opponents of the team from the capital of Greater Poland were, among others, the Israeli champion Hapoel Beersheva and the Swedish champion Mjaelby AIF.
Gurnik could face Sturm Graz or Heart of Midlothian in the third round. Potential rivals also included NEC Nijmegen, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Sparta Prague.
The first matches of the third round (both Polish teams will play at home) will take place on August 4 and 5, with rematches scheduled for a week later.
