Dortmund – Borussia Dortmund remains in pole position in poker around Konstantinos Karetsas (18).
According to BILD, BVB and the Greek international have agreed in principle on a move this summer. But negotiations with the Belgian first division club KRC Genk continue.
Milan also came knocking
BILD knows: Milan is also actively cooperating with Karetsas. The Italians have a striker on their list, but there is no official offer yet. This is exactly what Dortmund is playing at. While Milan is still waiting, BVB has been serious for a long time – and thus gains important points from the player.
Another trump card of the black and yellows: preparatory work! Dortmund have been monitoring Karetsas for about two years. Those responsible repeatedly sent scouts to his games in Belgium to watch the Greek national team play live. This persistence impresses Karetsas. He noticed exactly how intensely BVB tried to take care of him over a long period of time. This gives Dortmund a clear advantage when it comes to recruiting a striker.

However, this transfer is unlikely to be a 100% success. Genk have more leverage with a contract that runs until 2029 and do not want to underestimate their exceptional talent. According to BILD, the Belgians want to reach at least the current market value of 35 million euros. Negotiations are correspondingly difficult.
Genk sports director Dmitry de Conde also clearly speaks about this. He says: “But of course we have our position too, and it’s mainly based on our values. We know what we have in him, and he also has a long-term contract. That all plays a role.”
This means: Genk will not necessarily accept BVB and will simply lower the price. Dortmund may have to up their game in transfer poker. But one thing is also clear: Borussia Dortmund is currently the first choice when it comes to the player himself. Now the clubs just have to come to an agreement.
