The central government made an important decision on Friday. Satish Golcha has been removed from the post of Delhi Police Commissioner. Anurag Kumar was appointed as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police and took charge. Anurag Kumar was previously serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau i.e. IB. On Thursday, he was removed from the IB post by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sent back to its parent AGMUT. A day later, he was handed over to the command of the Delhi Police.

An official government order stated that after approval from the competent authority, 1994 batch IPS officer Anurag Kumar will be appointed as Delhi Police Commissioner. This appointment will take effect from the date of his assumption of office and will continue until further notice.

Anurag Kumar is an IPS officer since 1994 and his career began with the Delhi Police. He has worked as DCP i.e. Deputy Commissioner of Police in many areas of Delhi.

After a long experience with Delhi Police, he moved to IB and remained there continuously. While in information security, he had the opportunity to rise to the position of special director. He now has the biggest responsibility in the Delhi Police.

Commissioner Satish Golcha is an IPS officer since 1992. As per the order, once Anurag Kumar takes charge, Satish Golcha will be directed to appear before the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi for further assignment. It is reported that Satish Golchi’s resignation was supposed to take place in April 2027, but he was removed from this position ahead of schedule.
