Per DeadlineAccording to the publication, the series is looking for a new Kratos after star Ryan Hurst, who was originally cast as the iconic PlayStation character, suffered a serious injury while filming the Norse epic.
According to DeadlineThe decision to replace Hearst, who reportedly gained 40 pounds of muscle and apparently underwent major physical changes to embody his godlike role, came after painstaking consideration by the series’ co-producers, Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios. It is believed (and reported) TMZ) that ex Sons of Anarchy star Hearst tore his bicep while filming a stunt scene last month. And while the actor has since undergone successful surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, that recovery timeline (for a torn bicep you’re looking at for six months, and likely much longer, on the sidelines) has unfortunately proven inconsistent with God of Warstrict filming schedule.
DeadlineThe outlet’s sources understand that four episodes of Moore’s series, which began production in Vancouver back in February, had been fully filmed at the time of Hearst’s injury, with plans now to regroup in mid-August before reshoots are expected to begin in mid-October. At this stage, we don’t have a word or even a whisper as to who could fill Ryan Hurst’s formidable role as Kratos in the Ronald D. Moore series, which is currently set to run for at least two seasons as Prime Video looks to compete with the HBO series. The Last of Us in the prestigious dramatic stakes from game to series.
