The late Claude Lemieux’s wife, Deborah, was concerned about the former Canadian player’s behavior in the months before his May 28 death in Florida.

Lemieux’s family had concerns about possible substance abuse problems in the former NHL hockey player, who had been sober for 12 years.

One of his sons, Brendan, said the clan had observed changes in the four-time Stanley Cup winner’s behavior over the past year, according to documents released by authorities.

Claude Lemieux allegedly confronted his wife about his consumption the day before his death, and he confessed to the situation.

Deborah then asked him to leave the house at 10:30 p.m. before calling Brendan, who went to his parents’ house to see how they could support his father.

Later in the evening, his son allegedly checked his phone to check his father’s whereabouts and found him at the family business premises. He went to the scene and first saw the 60-year-old man’s truck there.

He then entered the warehouse and found his father dead. He called 911 at exactly 3:24 a.m. Authorities said a cellphone with a message was located near his remains.

A bag of THC candy was found nearby, but toxicology tests showed a “negative” result for the presence of analytes.
