To pay the bill for constructing a tarmac road at a cost of Rs 9 lakh 80 thousand in Mambakkam, Chengalpattu district, a video was released showing panchayat council president Veerasamy taking bribe in his office.
Veeraswamy reportedly demanded a bribe of one lakh rupees from Naveen, a contractor who tracked him down after completing the work. In the first phase, contractor Naveen sent Rs 50 thousand through G-Pay, but Veerasamy asked for Rs 2 lakh.
Naveen agreed to pay Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand, saying that if he paid Rs 2 lakh, he would suffer a loss, and sent another Rs 50 thousand through G-Pay and the remaining Rs 30 thousand through TV. It is said that he personally handed over the money to Panchayat Council President Veerasamy.
Explaining this, Veerasamy said that he had already returned the money he had already lent to the contractor Naveen.
