Jack was part of gold medal winning relay teams at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games.
In a video posted on social media with coach Dean Boxall, Jack said she was leaving the sport with her head held high after a career full of ups and downs.
“I am extremely proud of everything I have achieved in my swimming career,” she said.
“I can’t wait to finish at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
“I’ve always loved the Commonwealth Games, so this is the perfect way to give back to my Australian community, be proud of myself and leave with a smile on my face.”
Jack won her first Commonwealth Games gold medal as part of the Australian 4x100m freestyle relay team in Birmingham in 2018.
She served a 24-month ban after the banned substance ligandrol was found in her system. Jack has always denied intentionally taking a controlled substance.
Jack was selected to compete in her first Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, where she won gold medals in the women’s 4x100m freestyle relay and women’s 4x200m freestyle relay.
“I’m very proud of what swimming has done for me,” Jack said in her retirement video.
“I’m not only proud of medals or world records. I’ve never swam for this.
“I swam because I wanted to make a difference. I wanted to be someone people looked up to.”
The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 2.
