Almost five months after leaving Turkish club Samsunspor, Thomas Reis has found a new job. The 52-year-old coach signed a contract with the leading Bulgarian club Ludogorets Razgrad, which will be valid until 2028. Initially, there was no confirmation from the club about its validity period. Until the summer, Ludogorets enjoyed the longest championship streak in Europe before being dethroned by Levski Sofia.

Reis took charge of Samsunspor in July 2024 and in his first season led the club to a strong third place in the Super League. For the first time, the Turks were allowed to compete in the Conference League, where they finished in the round of 16 against eventual finalists Rayo Vallecano. Reis was forced to quit in February despite losing only two of their last seven games.

After 14 titles in a row, Ludogrets finished last season only in third place behind Levski and CSKA. The season starts on July 18 in Bulgaria, and Ludogorets will enter it as the championship favorite with the highest team value of 40 million euros. In a few days, the club will play in the second round of the Conference League qualification at Hapoel Tel Aviv. Last season, the team was looked after by four coaches: Rui Mota, Todor Zhivondov, Per-Mathias Högmo and Mikael Stare.
