Routes connecting the interior of the country to the Fraser Valley are closed.
Wildfires continue to disrupt travel across southern British Columbia, with Highway 1 through the Fraser Canyon and Highway 3 through Manning Park remaining closed until further notice.
Highway 1 is closed between Alexander Bridge, about 25 miles north of Hope, and Jackass Summit, south of Lytton, due to the Anderson Creek wildfire. Officials say there is no estimated time to reopen and the corridor will remain closed until conditions are safe.
Highway 3 is also closed in both directions between Sunshine Valley and a point west of Manning Park Lodge due to the Norway Creek wildfire. There is no detour along this route.
With both major highways closed, the Coquihalla Highway is currently the only available route connecting the Fraser Valley to the interior of British Columbia. Motorists should expect increased traffic volumes and possible delays.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for areas within the Fraser Valley Regional District and Boston Bar First Nations as wildfire activity continues.
Officials urge travelers to avoid unnecessary travel to affected areas and to check the latest road conditions before leaving as wildfire conditions and road closures can change quickly.
