Erling Haaland is widely regarded as one of the best football players in the world. The Norwegian striker holds the Premier League’s single-season scoring record, became the fastest player in history to score 100 goals in England’s top flight and has won three Champions League top scorer awards. At the 2026 World Cup, he scored in each of Norway’s first three matches, helping his country reach the knockout stages for the first time since 1998.
However, off the field his life is much calmer. “I’ll cook dinner,” Haaland told the Norwegian news agency. Isabelle Haugseng Johansen grew up playing the sport and, like Haaland, came through the youth ranks at Bryne FC in Norway. Although she appears to no longer be pursuing a professional soccer career, she has a steady following on Instagram of over 440,000 followers.
Her fashion choices at the World Cup attracted almost as much attention as Haaland’s goals. At Norway’s round of 16 match against Senegal in Texas, Johansen’s look – a Haaland jersey paired with denim shorts, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat – created a lot of buzz among fans. Haaland also commented on the post: “Yay!”

Both Haaland and Johansen are from Bryn, a small town in southwestern Norway. Haaland’s family settled here when he was three years old after his father, former professional footballer Alf-Inge Haaland, retired from playing in England.
Haaland and Johansen have been together for several years.

Despite knowing each other since their youth soccer days, the pair only started dating after Haaland had already moved to Germany to play for Borussia Dortmund in January 2020, where he also played with US men’s national team star Gio Reyna. Haaland and Johansen are reported to have met sometime in 2021.
But Haaland says it was Johansen who made the first move. “She sent me a message. But she played for the same club I played for, Brian. So she checked on me and I didn’t check on her,” Haaland said. NRChe is described as saying this with a “wide grin.”

Noting that he was also “pretty single” beforehand, he also shared a little dating advice: “It’s about going out and socializing. Meeting people and getting to know them. In my experience, you find your girl when you least expect it. If you’re always looking for a girl, you’ll never find her.”
They are new parents.
In December 2024, the couple welcomed their first child, a son, whose name has not been publicly disclosed. They first announced the pregnancy just a few months earlier when Haaland shared a photo on social media of a soccer ball under his T-shirt to simulate a baby bump.
The Manchester City striker has since credited fatherhood with improving his concentration on the pitch. “I’ve never felt better than I do now,” he told Sky Sports. “And to be honest, having a baby makes me feel even better because I actually switch off more than ever. I don’t think about football at all, which sometimes when you’re younger you think about this and that. You worry a little bit about things. But when I go home I relax even more. I think I have to give credit to my son.”
